Zero In - The northern part of the city - Part II

The objective is to unlearn what i have learnt about him, and discover things from a voter standpoint.

An youngster in his mid 20's on anonymity,  says that "It was because of Mr D Jayakumar,  some of the fishermen families are meeting their ends, today". "After a cyclone, most of them in this settlement had lost their fishing nets, and their boats got severely wrecked.  And on hearing their ordeal situation, Mr D Jayakumar rushed and extended the support to fix the damaged boats, and bought them all the new fishing nets, which helped them to return to normalcy, and remained independent in their life and this help he did when he was not in power". And he further adds "Some of the reforms in the fishery sector during his tenure had elevated his image among the People in this fishing hamlet".

We further navigated into the maze of mannarsamy Koil street, and  MS Koil street and so on and reached out to a scores of  local people to discover more information about our Vinveli Nayagan.

And Guess what, soon we encountered with an old woman in her 70's, whose face lit up, hearing the name of Mr D Jayakumar,  and speaks up with excessive proud. "Earlier, There was a clogged sewer line, due to which our movements were terribly affected, also drinking water got contaminated and kids often fell sick and it was after D Jayakumar assuming power, it was fixed and we are living a hazard-free-life today and my vote is only for him".

Based on the ground analysis, it is almost conspicuous that he has positively impacted the people of Royapuram in so many ways, and played a significant role in each and everyone's life. And all these responses of the people have only pressed my question further. "Why has he lost the 2021 election, inspite of being so popular in his constituency?"

And in no time, I got the answer from one Mr Govidarajan, Secretary of MGR peravai. "It was because of the alliance with BJP thambi". "Royapuram is a place with majority as Muslims, Christians, minorities and dalits, and it was obviously difficult for them to accept a force with diametrically opposite views, thoughts and ideologies".

When I asked him , how is he going to make it this time around, as again they have allied with BJP,  He said quite confidently, this time he will win thanks to the poor performance of the existing DMK minister, Idreams Murty, chuckles.
